The CDI Engine

The term CDi stands for “Common Rail Diesel Injection” and references the type of diesel injection method used. A common rail engine runs at pressures up to 2,000 bar (29,400 PSI) and can inject up to 7 times per cycle per cylinder. The fuel is delivered to all injectors by one fuel rail “Common rail” and is electronically controlled for upmost precision of injection timing. The modern common rail diesel engine can inject up to 7 times per cycle and has been the key to current refinement and economy standards.

2010> Mercedes Vito 2.2 CDi runs a Delphi DCM 3.5 engine management system and comes in 95bhp, 134bhp and 163bhp formats. They all have 100% mechanically identical engines with the only variance being the software. They run the same injectors and turbo systems throughout these variants and as such we can take the 95bhp up to a factory 163bhp without going outside factory tolerances and up to 204bhp with our Fast Road MERCEDES CDI Remap software.
